History of Western Philosophy

The History of Western Philosophy tribe is a place to concentrate an interest in philosophy. Starting on Jan. 1, everyone in the tribe will begin reading Bertrand Russell's comprehensive and wide-sweeping book, History of Western Philosophy.

By going through a modest number of sections per week, the whole group will be able to discuss their questions, impressions, and musings pertaining to the week's selection with a number of like minded individuals of varying levels of familiarity with philosophy.

So, basically, Russell's book is just the sort of thing that you would always like to read, but never will. It is cumbersome. However, if being pushed and carried with a group that is working right along with you, chances are that we can all get through it.

Then, you will be a master of philosophy, able to establish yourself as the true "intellectual" of any and every conversation. Just think what that will do for your social life: real win friends and influence people kind of stuff.

I also intend for this group to be a place for people that are old friends of philosophy, and perhaps have read the book before, but are looking to brush up.
